INFO:Dinko Dermendzhiev is elected by the supporters of Botev (Plovdiv) as a football player №1 of the club for the 20th century. Unpredictable in the movements, with a sharp start and gymnastic skills, effective muscles, high sense of feint with and without the ball and in the modeling of the pass and goal. He was very fast and mobile player on both wings. Dinko was very defensive minded in games, he was coming very deep to receive the ball and start the attack. He was more as a playmaker than classic winger, rarely producing more than 2-3 crosses per game. But he had good instinct in making right timed runs in opponents box and score some goals, especially after good 1-2 passses with his teammates. Dinko started to play in fact as a goalkeeper in team Marica Plovdiv. In 1959 he moved on to play for Botev Plovdiv and stayed there until his retirement in 1978, spending 19 great seasons and becoming the best player in club's history. In total he played 447 games in "A" RFG and scored 194 goals. He has scored 22 of 26 penalties and is the author of 7 hat-tricks. In European Cups he featured in 10 games and scored 3 goals. With Botev he won Bulgarian league in 1967 and Cup in 1962. For Bulgarian NT he played 58 matches and scored 19 goals, including one on World Cup 1970 against Peru after a fantastic combination with Petar Zhekov and Hristo Bonev. He represented Bulgaria on 3 World Cups, in 1962, 1966 and in 1970. In 1974 he was selected as the best Bulgarian sportsman. After his retirement Dermendjiev worked as a coach of numerous teams in Bulgaria and in abroad, as well as Bulgarian youth NT. He worked also as a club official of his team Botev Plovdiv.
