INFO:Martiradonna was a right back and occasionally a defensive midfielder. He's a legend of Cagliari, where he spent most of his career, playing 364 matches and scoring 6 goals from 1962 to 1973. He played also for Melfi, Teramo, Reggiana and Chicaco Mustangs. He retired in 1974 without never playing for Italy.
Compared to Berti Vogts, Martiradonna wasn't too imposing physically but was still a strong and tenacious man marker, combative, gifted with decent pace, good aerial ability, high stamina and good sense of anticipation. He had great duels with the likes of Roberto Bettega, Roberto Boninsegna, Sandro Mazzola, Pierino Prati and Gianni Rivera among others. He didn't possess remarkable technique but could deliver good crosses from the flank. His teammate at Cagliari Enrico Albertosi was sure that Martiradonna could be the only one able to stop Pelé. Unfortunately, that was never found out because Martiradonna wasn't called-up for the 1970 FIFA World Cup by coach Ferruccio Valcareggi, who changed his mind at the last minute.
