INFOJörn Bjerregaard was one of the greatest Rapid scorers. Very useful player, mainly centre forward but also often played in midfield marking the dangeous opponents's players, even when playing as striker he often chased back in midfield. He played as sweeper in the last years of career, extremly strong in heading and he was good free kick taker, run a lot, very strong with good shot. In 1962 he made his debut for Aarhus in the first Danish league. With 13 goals in his first year he became an instant game second-best scorer of the club. This was followed by 16 goals this season in the season 1963/64. In 1965 Bjerregaard could celebrate with his first Cup victory winning the title. In the league season with 17 goals, he was again the offensive star of the team. After an observation of Rapid officials then presented to him before a contract offer, which he accepted only after a repair. He had signed his first professional contract, as in Denmark until the year 1978, a professional league was introduced. In his first game he scored three goals for Rapid against Kapfenberger SV and three more in the first round of European Cup against Galatasaray in the games. In the next 6 years he won two league titles with the club, was three times Cup winner and 1968 top scorer in the league and reached the second round twice in the European Champions Cup. His greatest moment of glory came, however, in the European Cup season 1968/69. After a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in Vienna led the "white ballet" in the return game already 1-0, before Bjerre in the 50th Minute of the game could be compensated by a long shot. Real had to wait until the 82nd Minute of the game, the 2-1, rapid was the away goals. After this game, he received several contract offers from Spain and wanted to change it. Just before signing the contract, however, the restriction foreigners in the Spanish league has been tightened, making an eventual transfer failed. In his great career he had won 96 league for Rapid, 23 Cup, European Cup and eight gates. In 1968 he was top scorer in 1968 and 1970, and Kronen Zeitung - Player of the Year. Bjerregaard was never in official matches for the Danish national soccer team. The simple reason: it was his move to Rapid professional players. As held in Denmark in 1978, but only the "pure professionalism" river, before there was the idea of strict amateur, which included, not to nominate a professional player for the national team.
