Horst “Luffe” Wolter (born June 8, 1942 in Berlin) is a former German football player. In the youth he trained as a right winger at SC Charlottenburg. Due to the intense physical double strain, he changed his position to goalkeeper because he had to run less there. He sttod out with great reactions and good positioning. Player with strong built and good jump. Horst Wolter, trained baker - hence his nickname "Luffe", played from 1963-1977 as a goalkeeper in 243 games in the Bundesliga for Eintracht (195) and for Hertha BSC (48). In 1967 he was a goalkeeper of the team German Champion. In total conceded the team, only 27 goals, setting a Bundesliga record, which stood till 1988 and Werder Bremen with Oliver Reck. In 1975 he was with Hertha BSC, where he then in the late eighties worked as a manager, a surprise runner-up. Wolter, who played in his time at Eintracht Braunschweig total of 13 games (1967-1970) for the German national football team, was with the national team third at the World Cup in Mexico in 1970. The 1-0 in the match for third place against Uruguay was his last international match.
