INFO:

One of the greatest Rapid scorers. Bjerregaard was very useful player, mainly centre forward but also often played in midfield marking the dangeous opponents's players, even when playing as striker he often chased back in midfield. He played as sweeper in the last years of career, extremly strong in heading and he was good free kick taker, run a lot, very strong with good shot. Raised in a suburb of Aarhus, he came at the age of 12 years for large Aarhus GF, who was in the 1950s as the best team in Denmark. Besides football, he started studying economics, which in the mid-1960s, ended prematurely in favor of the sport. In 1962 he made his debut for Aarhus in the first Danish league. With 13 goals in his first year he became an instant game second-best scorer of the club. This was followed by 16 goals this season in the season 1963/64. This was indeed Aarhus another striker, the "golden age", however, were over. Was it until the end of the 1950 series champion as yet, you had to give the new top team beat Esbjerg fB. 1964 we completed the last strong season in which they had to admit defeat in the end just the surprise champion Boldklubben 1909th 1965 Bjerregaard could celebrate with his first Cup victory winning the title. In the league season with 17 goals, he was again the offensive star of the team. This was also the dedicated coaches in Denmark Austrian Rudolf Strittich (Esbjerg fB) and Walter Pfeifer not gone unnoticed, which recommended him to follow the SK Rapid Vienna as a reinforcement. After an observation of rapid officials then presented to him before a contract offer, which he accepted only after a repair. He had signed his first professional contract, as in Denmark until the year 1978, a professional league was introduced. In general it was a change a big step, because the Austrian League was set at that time to clear the Danish. This quickly came to doubt the abilities of the player who did this, however, be removed immediately. In his first game he scored three goals for Rapid against Kapfenberger SV and three more in the first round of European Cup against Galatasaray in the games. Rapid was playing in a 3-2-5 offensive network in which could classify Bjerregaard fabulously right away. With his strike partners August Starek, Rudolf Flogel, Toni Fritsch and Walter Side then he made the "dream Hütteldorfer storm" that would dominate the league for years. In the next 6 years he won two league titles with the club, was three times Cup winner and 1968 top scorer in the league and reached the second round twice in the European Champions Cup. His greatest moment of glory came, however, in the European Cup season 1968/69. After a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in Vienna led the "white ballet" in the return game already 1-0, before Bjerre (as he was often called in short) in the 50th Minute of the game could be compensated by a long shot. Real had to wait until the 82nd Minute of the game, the 2-1, rapid was the away goals. After this gate, he received several contract offers from Spain and wanted to change it. Just before signing the contract, however, the restriction foreigners in the Spanish league has been tightened, making an eventual transfer failed. In the season 1970/71 of the 19-year-old Hans Krankl was a violation of Toni Fritsch to his first stakes in rapid-shirt. This made it this season with two of the largest Krankl Bjerregaard and Rapid-scorer of all time in a team. Krankl was awarded in the following season in the WAC, so there was no further interaction more. When it was introduced in 1971/72 season as new coach at Ernst Hlozek green and white, his time in the master record was coming to an end. After Hlozek Bjerregaard announced after an injury, maybe not for the next away game against GAK get fit, he threw this "Laschieren" before and let it just me exercising with the juniors, which was a humiliation equal. In May 1972, the subsequent dispute. Bjerregaard had just shot the eternal rival, FK Austria Wien with four goals from the Austrian Cup competition, but still had the following league game on the bench to take, so the bond between player and coach was finally cut. As the club also graced with the extension of his contract, Bjerregaard took the reins into their own hands and offered to phone the league rivals SC Eisenstadt, who had submitted six months before a contract offer. Under protest from the Rapid fans, he then moved into the capital of Burgenland. After 23 season goals in his first season at Eisenstadt he retired the following year returned to midfield before he ended his successful career at the age of 32 years as a sweeper. Reason for the late career were physical problems that robbed Bjerregaard claims to be the desire to play football. In his great career he had won 96 league for Rapid, 23 Cup, European Cup and eight gates. In 1968 he was top scorer in 1968 and 1970, and Kronen Zeitung - Player of the Year. During his time at Aarhus Bjerregaard came to national honors also, albeit at only youth level. On 15 January 1961 he made his debut for the Danish U-19 national team 1:5 in the bitter defeat against Norway. Less than a month later made the team including the defeat Bjerregaard but again with a 5-0 shooting off against Finland. From 1962 to 1966, he was then a total of five times for the Danish U-21 team. On 14 September 1963, he succeeded in revenge against Norway, when he twice in a 5-2 win for Denmark met. Bjerregaard was never in official matches for the Danish national soccer team. The simple reason: it was his move to Rapid professional players. As held in Denmark in 1978, but only the "pure professionalism" river, before there was the idea of strict amateur, which included, not to nominate a professional player for the national team. In 1976, Bjerregaard made a commitment to his old love Aarhus GF to talk as a coach. Despite a successful second division the year in which he came second with Aarhus promotion to the first Division was allowed to celebrate, he resigned his post after only a year and returned to Austria. It should be his first and last coach station.
