INFO:

Nikola Kotkov is legendary Bulgarian player tragically killed together with Gundi Asparuhov in car crash. He impresses with excellent technique and accurate passes, skillfully organizing his team's attacks. He has a powerful and accurate shot with his left foot. Brilliant performer of direct free kicks and corners, in which the ball repeatedly enters the opponent's goal. An incredible striker, characterized by unsurpassed in accuracy punch with his left foot, extremely technical player, realizing very accurate passes. He was a perfect technician, he did whatever he wanted with the ball, he knew how to release it most unexpectedly on the way to the opponent's goal, so that the stands gasped - among 22 players and thousands of spectators he was the only one who found the most original, but also the most effective solution! His great left foot was striking. From a free kick, and sometimes straight from a corner, he found his way to the net. He was perhaps the smartest, the most direct, and the most uncompromising, he didn't bother anyone. Besides, he had an inner strength, something powerful that he subdued and respected. He was strong and as stubborn as a centenarian oak (who saw him fall to the ground after a collision!), His sense of the game, of his balance was so sharpened, that by remaining firm and courageous, he avoided accidental blows and did not suffer injuries. He usually played a little pulled back, from there everything is easier to see and judge. And his pass was not only accurate, but also constructive. He brought to the goal position his teammate who could sense his plan and be in the right place, after which he had only to leave the trigger. Let him pass, let the others score. But when things didn't work out, he took on another role. To move forward, to score goals, to win with the thought of which he has always been on the field. He scored goals from any position. As with a powerful long-range shot, so ingeniously after stirring in front of the opponent's goal. He was also a master of the execution of free kicks through the "wall", penalties, goals and even straight corners.

Kotkov (1938-1971) was born on 9 December 1938 in Sofia, a product of the youth academy of Lokomotiv (Sofia), whose representative men's team played 286 matches and scored 143 goals.
