INFO:Jacek Gmoch is legendary Polish player and coach. Jacek was good defender whose career ended premature due to terrible injury when he broke the leg and there was a threat of the leg being amputated but fortunatelly he recovered although couldn't return on the pitch. A brave, ruthless footballer, making up for certain technical deficiencies with great ambition and determination. He was tough defender, uncompromising, he did score some goals also. The first club in his career was Wisla Plock (1953-1958), after several years came to Legia Warsaw. In the colors of the team has performed in Warsaw in the years 1958-1969, winning the Polish Cup twice (1964 and 1966) and won the Polish Championship in 1969. For the Polish national team appeared 31 times (1962-1968). His career ended on 08/17/1968 in match with Polonia Bytom in Warsaw. At the beginning of the game goalkeeper Marian Szeja's unfortunate intervention broke his leg. It was a multi-stage fracture, prematurely ending his career. After retiring from football began working as a coach. He started as an assistant in Legia (1969-1971). He was a pioneer of scientific methods in football. In August 1976 he succeeded Kazimierz Gorski as a coach of the Polish national team. He won the qualifier for the World Cup 1978 and the advanced to the finals of the World Cup in Argentina in 1978, where he finished 5th. After the World Cup led representation in 2 matches: friendly against Finland in August 1978 and 2-0 European Championship qualifier with Iceland, before being dismissed by football panel. In the following years he worked abroad. In 1979 he led the Norwegian Skeid Oslo. Later, he trained for many years (with success) Greek and Cypriot team: PAS Giannina (1979-1981) - rescued from the drop and 5 place, Apollon Athens (1981-1982), Larissa (1982-1983, vice-Greece 1983 - the first ever successful provincial team), Panathinaikos (1983-1985, Greek championship 1984, vice 1985, Greek Cup 1984, AEK Athens (1985-1986) runners, again Larisa (1986-1988. Championship Greece 1988 a success even greater for the first time and so far the last team from outside the "big four" of Greece won the trophy), Olympiakos Piraeus (1988-1989, vice-Greece 1989), Aris Thessaloniki (1990-1991), APOEL Nicosia (1991-1993) - a national championship and playing in the League Champions in season 1992-1993; Supercup, again, Larisa (1993), Athinaikos Athens (1994-1995), Ethnikos Piraeus (1995), APOEL Nicosia (1996-1997) - advance to the UEFA Cup, Ionikos Piraeus (1997-1998), Kalamata FC (1998-1999) - in the second championship and promotion to the first division, Panionios Athens (1999), Kalamata FC (2001), again Ionikos Piraeus (2002-2003), who saved from relegation. In February 2010, elected in Greece, one of the five best coaches in the history of Greek football league. While having a successful football career at Legia, he simultaneously graduated in communication from the Warsaw University of Technology.
