INFOJuan Guedes Rodríguez (Carrizal de Ingenio, Las Palmas province, October 2, 1942 - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, March 9, 1971) was a Spanish football player. Guedes was left wing half, great captain and key player of Las Palmas side, famous for his fantastic 40-50 meters long passes to his wingers. Player of imposing stature, mobile and technically gifted. He had excellent vision and powerful shots from distance. Equally effective in both directions, with good work rate in defensive duties but also supporting the attacks. He joined the youth team of UD Las Palmas, where only 18 jumps to the first team in the 60-61 season, making his debut in Ceuta on April 23, 1961 the then coach Casimiro Benavente. In the 63-64 season, ü.d. Las Palmas returned to the First Division, making some outstanding performances Guedes who recognize him as a national football figures. Guedes on May 2, 1968 makes his debut with the Spanish national team against Sweden in Malmoe. The score was 1-1, Castellano being the author of Spanish goal. He returned to acting with the national team on March 26, 1969 against Switzerland in Valencia. Not acted more this season due to a serious injury sustained in a match against Elche in the Insular Stadium and then to be punished for causing serious injury to Planas, Zaragoza player. In the 67-68 season the ü.d. Las Palmas, trained by Luis Molowny, gets the third after titanic struggle for the title with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona until the last day. The next season, Sub League ranks after Real Madrid. In all these seasons Guedes is instrumental in the team. Play the Fairs Cup ( UEFA) with ü.d. Las Palmas against Hertha Berlin. His last season as a player were 69-70, where he appeared in 24 games and scored three goals, the last one of his career, on February 1, 1970 against Celtic, and 70-71. Guedes had been diagnosed with a serious illness so this season only played 11 games, the last in Sarria on December 13, 1970, against the Spanish. The March 9, 1971 died in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria just 28 years old, having played with the yellow team 252 league games, scoring 28 goals, 29 Copa getting 3 goals, 2 Fairs Cup (UEFA), plus various international matches with the yellow team. Juanito 's death caused deep sorrow throughout the Canarian people, and in the Spanish football fans, they all admired his great class. The posthumous tribute game, against Partizan Belgrade, was an emotional manifestation of love of all people and the Spanish football.
