Ante Jurić was the 3rd best Hajduk Split keeper and selected few seasons as the best keeper in Yugoslavia. He had promising career but some Hajduk and NT officials ruined it by inventing allegedly some lung disease to favour Milutin Šoškić as the NT keeper. Jurić was brave keeper with great reflexes and excellent jump but also good catching skills which he practiced often with Vladimir Beara. His career began in the Jedinstvo of Kopilica, defended the Split Arsenal (later NK Split) to 1955 finally became the keeper Hajduk Split where he was all through 1965. With one game for a young Yugoslav national team, and played for a senior national team, 26 April 1959. against Switzerland (5:1) in Basel. On physical examination, the doctors told him that they suspected Jurić's lungs. These were later confirmed by Split specialists. They forbade him - not only playing, but also coming to the club! Because, supposedly, was a danger to the environment. Six-month break, lost a place in the team, that would be classified after examination of Ljubljana found that fit as a fiddle! Is he the "shadow of the lung" was "installed", known only to them. After Hajduk played half a season in NK Split, and helped "red" to survive in the second division. He stood in front of the goal posts until his 38th year. He finished his career with Uskok Klis. Ante died in 2013.
