Started his 'football scurry' with Dinamo Zagreb. With Dinamo, he won 1 Former YU Championship (1958) and 3 YU Cups (1960, 1963, 1965). At his about 315 games with Dinamo a club where he spent ten years (1955-65) he scored over 300 goals.
Member of Generation '63 which reached Fairs/UEFA Cup final and lost to Valencia. Characteristic centreforward. Gifted ballplayer of powerful athletic build and lots of suddenness of movements, coupled with his sniff for goal and a 'killer instict' in the 6 yard box made him a truly remarkable player. Jerković was especially renowned for his perfect execution of scissor kick with which he scored many goals.
Dražan Jerković scored 5 goals in one game in Former YU League vs Beograd in 1962., League hat-trick five times vs Lokomotiva in 1956, vs Vardar in 1957, vs Sloboda in 1959, vs Partizan in 1960, vs Sloboda 1962 and was a Top Scorer of Former YU League for Dinamo with 17 goals in 1962.
After Dinamo he only played for Belgian club FC Gantoise, 1965. where he finished his playing career after getting injured. For Former Yugoslavia he played only 21 games (1960-64), scored 11 goals and was a member of a team at Euro Championship in France 1960. where he was a joint Top Scorer with 2 goals. Former YU team lost 2:1 in final to Soviet Union after a memorable 1/2 win over France (4:3) where Jerković scored his 2 goals. Two years later in Chile at the 1962. World Cup he was a Top Scorer with 5 goals as Former YU team finished 4th. For Croatia Jerković played in 1 game vs Indonesia 1956. which was a friendly in Zagreb (5:2).
As a coach Dražan Jerković was in charge of Dinamo in 1971/72 (reaching the final of Former YU Cup in 1972. only to lose 2:1 to HNK Hajduk), NK Zagreb and was a coach of newly reestablished Croatian National Team (1990/91) in first 3 games with 100% record, beating USA 2:1, Romania 2:0 and Slovenia 1:0.
Sadly as a Dinamo coach never given more time to prove his qualities. In 1970 he coached YU team at the Mediterranean Games in Izmir (Turkey), where they won a first place. Also he was a 'Coach for the day' of Former YU Team. Jerković was in charge of Former YU Team for one game vs Greece on 15.11.1978. in Skopje when he boldly choose a young side (with 5 debutants) which came from behind (0:1) to win 4:1 in emphatic style. Fearless centreforward of the past knew how to recognize one for the future as young Vahid Halilhodžić in his only 6th and 3rd full game scored a hattrick. Dražan Jerković a living Dinamo legend and one of the best Croatian strikers in the history of the game.
