INFO:Longo was a sweeper or defensive midfielder. A member of Juventus' youth team, he never debuted in the first team. He spent almost his entire career at Cagliari, playing there from 1960 to 1969, making 242 appearances and scoring 2 goals from 1960 to 1969. He was the team captain in the last three seasons. He lost the chance to win the 1969-70
Scudetto as he was sold due to issues with the club's president. He retired in 1970 after a season with Atalanta.
Longo was a very good defender and a key player in Cagliari's back-line during the 1960s. He had a well-built and strong physique as well as high tenacity. This combination made him unbeatable in physical challenges. The other defenders relied on him. When they were dribbled, the Argentine was always the last man to amy striker had to go past. Always fearless, Longo had no problem at covering any possible space left empty or intercepting shots even with his own body. His timing on tackles though wasm't as good as the defender was usually rough, preferring to stop the opponent decisively even if that led to a foul.
