INFO:Calvanese was a centre forward, left winger and inside left. He began his career at Ferro Carril Oeste in 1953. He joined Atlanta in 1957. In 1959, he transferred to Italy, where he had a bad first season at Genoa. He was immediately sold to Catania, having there his best time as he scored 27 goals in 125 appearances from 1960 to 1967. In the middle, he had a spell at Atalanta from 1962 and 1964, scoring 10 goals in 43 matches.
Considered one of the classiest strikers Catania's history, he wasn't though very prolific. He possessed agility and pace in the short, but he lacked of sprint. Gifted with tactical intelligence, technical and passing skill, he could organise the game well. He was brave and had enough strength to break through the defence. Calvanese scored the second goal in the legendary 2-0 win against Inter in 1961 after he got up quickly following a clash with Giacinto Facchetti. Apparently, Calvanese had troubles on heavy fields, where he needed a teammate to play constantly close to him.
