INFO:Hunt was a centre forward or inside right. He spent almost his entire career at Liverpool, where he made 492 appearances from 1959 to 1969, scoring 285 goals. He retired in 1972 after short experiences at Bolton Wanderers and South African team Hellenic. He capped for England 34 times, scoring 18 goals and winning the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
Considered one of the greatest players in Liverpool's history, Hunt was distinguished for his combination of deadly finishing ability, speed on the distance, strength and great workrate. He had determination, courage, willingness, and he would do whatever it takes for his team as he never gave up and even made productive runs when the ball seemingly couldn't reach him. Neither an orthodox striker nor a typical one, he highlighted his abilities, creativity, and ball control by lying deep in the field. Even the best defenders had tough times against his quickness, strength and skill. On heavy grounds, his strength on the ball made him an even more fearsome striker for any defender. Furthermore, he possessed a remarkably accurate and powerful shot, that enabled him to score from favourable spots, challenging angles, or from over twenty meters, sometimes hitting difficult corners. Hunt's opportunism was unmatched as he would make sure that the ball hit the back of the net as soon as it was inside the opposing goal area thanks to his unmatched ability to get into position, and if he was challenged by a few defenders, he would drop his shoulder, avoid their tackles, and beat the goalkeeper. Also, he had an extremely good heading ability. In addition to his striking abilities, he liked dropping back into midfield to collect the ball and play it forward with good passes, switching the task with Ian St John when the two played together. On the other hand, while he could overcome the defenders and make the decisive pass or score an unexpected goal, his ball control at times fell short of the required standard, in particular when he played for England, where he lacked of confidence.
