Very talented but lacked consistency, playing as outside right and terrorizing the rivals with his agility and feints similar as Garrincha using mostly the same feint each time. Very fast on the ball, with sublime and quick footwork, good close control, solid passing range and shot power although he didn't score too much goals in Atletico shirt. Even being Galician birth, childhood of José Armando Ufarte its beginnings as a player took place in Brazil, a country where his parents had emigrated in 1954. After playing in the youth ranks at Flamengo in 1958 became the first team set River Janeiro. The season 1961/62 signed by the Corinthians, returning after Flamengo, which won its first two titles: the 1961 Campeonato Carioca and Rio-São Paulo Tournament 1963. In 1964 he returned to Spain, joining Atletico Madrid. The September 13, 1964 debut in the First Division of Spain at the meeting that his new team plays in Madrid against Real Betis. Ufarte remain for ten seasons in the red and white set, playing 246 league games in which they scored 25 goals. With Atletico won three league titles and two Copa. After completing his time "Atletico", in 1974 signed for Racing Santander. With the whole Cantabrian get promotion to the First Division in his first season. After playing in Primera with Racing the 1975-1976, Ufarte put an end to his playing career. With the Racing played a total of 55 games (27 in First) and scored ten goles. In May 1965, finishing his first season at Atletico Madrid, Jose Armando Ufarte debut with the Spanish national team, being organized by José Villalonga for the home opener against Ireland in qualifying for the 1966 World Cup in England. In the next seven years, played a total of 15 games with the Spanish scoring two goals. With Spain participated in the finals of a World Cup (England '66) and in the classification of three different (England '66, Mexico '70 and Germany '74), as well as qualifying for Euro Italia 1968. Following his time as a player, as a coach Ufarte joined the ranks at Atletico Madrid, arriving in 1985 to take over the subsidiary, Atletico Madrileño. In March 1988, after being sacked as first team coach César Luis Menotti, took charge of Atletico bench for three games, until relieved by another technician of the house, Antonio Briones. As had happened in his years of player, after leaving signed for Atletico Racing de Santander, which will lead in the next two seasons. The last club I trained at this early stage was the Sports Club Merida, headed the season stood at 1990/91. In 1997 he joined as a coach to the Royal Spanish Football Federation. It addressed the Picks Sub-16, Under-19 and Under-21, with which they get to earn up to six titles europeos. As assistant Luis Aragones in his time as national coach (2004-2008), was a participant in the beginning of the current era of success for the Spanish, the proclaimed champion of Euro 2008.
