INFOJosé Manuel León Talavera (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria, May 15, 1944 - February 15, 2020), was a Spanish footballer and coach who played for UD Las Palmas. José Manuel León is one of the leading scorers in Las Palmas history. Leon was right winger, although he played on left side as well. He was very fast player with good scoring instict, vertical with good technique. He'd receive great long pass from Guedes and than start his quick runs towards the goal from the flank. In the 1962-1963 season, with only 17 years, debuting at the Colombino stadium in Huelva on September 16, 1962. In his first season yellow played 21 matches and scored 3 goals. In 65-66 and 68-69 seasons he was the top scorer of the team. Leon lived with the most splendid yellow canary football stages, reaching third place in the league (67-68), the runner-up in season 1968-69, participating in the UEFA in 1969 and 1972. He remained in the land of his team for 13 seasons, hanging up his boots in 1975. Their last game was against Sarria Espańol in the May 18, 1975 being the last season as coach Pierre Sinibaldi. In his career as a yellow player played 275 league games, 30 Cup and 4 UEFA, scoring more than 70 goals in all these official competitions.
