INFOGeorges Lech is a French footballer of Polish origin. His parents arrived in France from Poland in 1930. One of the most talented players France has ever produced. Georges played as inside right and right winger, fantastic dribbler and great scorer. He had fabulous footwork combined with great acceleration, agility and low center of gravity which made him very hard to stop when on the ball, often producing sudden change of direction and explosive moves. Lech was good passer and playmaker as well, skillful from the high balls. Considered one of the most gifted French players of his generation, his career was cut short following a knee injury. Previously, he was often injured in his career. He was one of the rare French footballers to have talent at the end of the 60s and beginning of the 70s, a dark period in French football. But despite all the qualities he possessed, he did not have the career he could have imagined. His precocity and his talent were lost in this cursed period of French football. At 17, he signed a contract at Racing Lens. In the season 1966/67, he was even the second best league scorer with 25 goals. In 1968 he moved to FC Sochaux, with whom he remained four years. In 1972 he moved to Stade Reims, where he also played four years, however, in this final season a serious knee injury means that he had to end his playing career with not quite 31 years. Georges Lech played between October 1963 and March 1973 a total of 35 A-international matches in the national team for which he also scored 7 goals.
