INFO:

The legend of Slovan Bratislava, one of very rare Slovaks to score against both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Cvetler was nimble right wing, with barely average parameters of the body, however, was swift as the wind, and brought excitement to the stands. He scored good amount of goals, very agile with good pace and goal instinct. In 1960, he joined Slovan Bratislava from Bernolákov. He played for the Blues for ten seasons, but never won the championship title. Slovan was the runner-up five times in the Cvetler era. In the 1959/60 season, they were two points behind the surprising champion Spartak Hradec Králové, and in 1963/64, they were also two points behind Dukla Prague. He was the team's top scorer twice, in the 1962/63 seasons (11 goals) and 1963/64, together with Jozef Obert (both 9 goals). In league (Slovan, Zbrojovka Brno) has played 300 matches and had 80 goals. If we counted three years in the Belgian club Standard Liege, he would clearly be in the club of players with more than 100 goals scored. He won the Czechoslovak Cup three times with Slovan, which meant three participations in the Cup Winners' Cup with a record of 16 matches, three goals. In addition to accurate hits against Tottenham Hotspur and HPS Helsinki, he scored the most important goal of his career on 21 May 1969 in Basel. In the 1969 Cup Winners' Cup final against FC Barcelona, he scored in the 45th second, one of the fastest goals in the final matches of European cups. After a 3:2 victory over the Spanish giants, Slovan won the most valuable trophy in its history, being the only club from Czechoslovakia to win any of the European cups. Cvetler often scored important goals on the international stage. In 1968, Slovan won the summer cup competition Interpohár, defeating Bundesliga side Hamburger SV twice in the group stage, 1:0 at home (Cvetler's goal) and 5:4 away (Cvetler's two goals). In January 1969, Slovan defeated the best club team in the world, Intercontinental Cup winner Estudiantes, 2:1 at the Copa de Oro tournament in Mar del Plata, Argentina, with Cvetler scoring in the 4th minute. After the triumph in the CWC, Cvetler moved to the Belgian league, to Standard Liège, where he played for three seasons.
