Hrivnak was centre back, not always secure in defence but very good in jump and quick. The versatile player perhaps because the 'original vocation' was a gymnast, could control the body, the movements, muscles stiffen where it just needs to be, he did not lack discipline. At that time, Hrivnák replaced František Plass at half-time with the score at 1:2 and ultimately participated in gaining an important point in a 3:3 draw. He also started in the duel against Ireland (3:0) and helped coach Jozef Marek's team to advance to the World Cup in Mexico. At the final tournament of the 1970 World Cup in Guadalajara, he played the entire match in the group stage against England (0:1), starting in the defensive four together with Migas, Dobiáš and Hagar. After finishing his active career, he devoted himself to coaching. As a helmsman, he led the junior teams of Slovan Bratislava, and later Dunajská Streda, ZŤS Košice, Inter Bratislava, Matador Púchov and ŠKP Bratislava. |
