Bedford was a right-inside or centre forward. He spent the majority of his career at Queens Park Rangers from 1959 to 1965. He's the club second top ever scorer with 180 goals in 284 matches. He played also for Reading, Southampton, Bournemouth, Scunthorpe United, Brentford and in the USA at Atlanta Chiefs. He retired in 1969.
One of the most consistent scorer in Queens Park Rangers history, Bedford was a very direct and hard running player who could hit the ball with both feet and the headers were his specialty. Moreover he could shoot with every part of his body, no matter how the ball arrived to him. He wasn't a dribbler but a player who shot straight on goal with good power. He had braveness, tenacity, toughness and his physical presence was a threat for the defences. However, while he was a great header who could even score a hat-trick using only the head, he apparently could also miss easier open goals.
