De Marchi was a defensive or central midfielder but also centre back. He spent most part of his career in Vicenza from 1957 to 1966: 219 matches and 10 goals. He played also for Schio, Cuneo and Trento. He retired in 1968.
De Marchi was similar to the other Vicenza defensive midfielder Giobatta Zoppelletto: strong physique to mark constantly his opponents, good header, great determination but he lacked in technical abilities. Unlike his teammate though, De Marchi also showed to be an enforcer with powerful shot and good scoring prowess, especially with headings, and an occasional long passer from the back.
