Michelotti was a defender who played as right full-back. He played 69 matches for Como from 1955 to 1959, 113 for Catania from 1959 to 1966, when he retired. He was a regular in Catania squad during the Serie B season ended with the historical promotion and the first Serie A season.
Michelotti was a strong player, an iron fighter who had great consistency. His physique made him able to mark with efficiency even great players like Omar Sívori, Jair da Costa, Ezio Pascutti, Paolo Barison and Sergio Brighenti, among many others. Due to his performances, many big clubs made offers for him but Catania never accepted − despite having him more as reserve during the last seasons.
