Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFO:Tommy Garrett was a long-time Blackpool defender, playing for the club for a decade and a half, being a starter throughout the entirety of their greatest period. He was primarily a left back but was comfortable on the right side too, and was known as a defender that was calm on the ball and tried to play his way out of trouble. He was also very solid in the air and had decent speed, allowing him to form a balanced partnership with the slower and more rugged Eddie Shimwell. Despite his "footballing defender" image he didn't actually go forward as often as Shimwell, preferring to distribute and defend from a deep position, although he did incredibly score from his own half against Huddersfield on the way to the 1953 FA Cup with a long pass that got carried by the wind. He had pretty clean tackling skills and nice reflexes which allowed him to snuff out dangerous situations without the need to use his physicality. Garrett also won 3 caps for his country, partnering Alf Ramsey in defence.
