Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFO:Willie Cunningham was a long-time Preston defender and their most capped outfield player of all time. He was a tough and resolute right back with strong tackling skills and good physique. His positioning was great and he could react well to intercept passes. He wasn't fast and had below average technique but he had decent long passing abilities and was tenacious enough to make up for any shortcomings, and formed a great partnership on Preston's right side with Tom Finney and Tommy Docherty. He played for Preston for 14 years, making 487 appearances, and played for Scotland 8 times, captaining his country at their disastrous 1954 World Cup tournament.
