INFO:Azzopardi was a right winger and centre forward. He spent most of his career at Floriana from 1947 to 1953, playing 100 matches and scoring 47 goals. In addition, he played 6 more times for the team in the 1955-56 season, at the end of which he retired. He played for Rabat Ajax between 1953 and 1955. He didn't have the chance to play for Malta because he retired before the national team truly existed. Although, he was called up several times to play for Malta FA XI, that is considered as the precursor of the national team.
One of the best Maltese players during his time, Azzopardi was initially used in the middle of the attack. As centre forward he didn't rely on technical abilities like most strikers used to do at his time. Instead, he took advantage of his clever positional play. He was then turned into primarily a right winger due to his weakness in the air. Comfortable with the ball on his feet, he could use his passing ability better in this new position. In fact, despite him being a prolific scorer, many of the goals for his team came from his accurate crosses.
