Attack/Defence Awareness Card: Defence MindedINFO:Hans Christian Nielsen was a legendary AGF defender and also silver medallist with Denmark at the 1960 Olympics. He was a tall and strong centre half known for his composure and leadership of his defence. He had good positional sense and foresight that made up for his lack of mobility. His marking skills were also well known, with even players such as Pelé and Florian Albert struggling to overcome him. He was a classic stopper of his era with no incentive to get forward or play the ball although he could send some decent long passes every now and then. He was also good in the air where his height helped him tremendously. His playing style was summarised by a journalist that wrote that "he could play centre half with a pipe in his mouth". His composure and experience perfectly reflected his teammate, goalkeeper Henry From, and they formed a great partnership for club and country. Overall he made 25 appearances for Denmark and was one of the leaders of AGF's golden era in the second half of the 50s.
