INFO:

Harry Yorston was a leading Aberdeen player in the 1950s, their 4th top scorer with 141 goals in 278 games. Yorston was an inside right who was known for his scoring abilities and his hard work on the pitch. He was an offensive all rounder with few weaknesses but also few outstanding attributes, he had decent pace with the ball and good dribbling and shooting, was capable of creating chances with his passing and could score headers despite his lack of size. Even in games where he wasn't involved in goals, he contributed with his energy and hard work. Despite this, he was an inconsistent player who liked to take risks, which often frustrated Aberdeen fans who felt he could achieve even more. He formed a strong partnership with his hero George Hamilton at the start of the 50s, and later won Aberdeen's first league title in the 1954/55 season, during which he won his only cap for Scotland. He famously retired at the age of only 28 to work in a fish market as it paid a lot more than a career in football at the time. In 1972 he won a huge amount of money in the lottery; perhaps if he knew he would win a fortune then he could have given even more service to Aberdeen.
