Lucchi was a full-back. His career started in 1948 at Hellas Verona in Serie B. In 1951, he signed for Serie A club Spal, where he made 213 appearances and scored 2 goals until his retirement in 1959. A mainstay in Spal's defence for nearly a decade, Lucchi was distinguished for his great temperament, competitiveness, solid technique, pace, and quickness in sweeping the ball away. He rarely pushed forward and, in fact, he scored only a few times. One of those occurred in a 3-1 loss against Inter in the 1955-56 Serie A, when he rushed down the left flank, surprising his opponents who didn't challenge him as he scored with a very angled shot.
