INFO

Gastone Bean was solid striker, in Milan played as centre forward but later in Genoa and especially in Napoli he played as left winger. Not with imposing stature, but had solid strength with his chubby stature. His main weapon was positioning and quick reactions in the box, most of his goals were from close range, at least in his Milan days. Besides he had good usage of his left foot, as well as solid speed. He grew up in Milan, exploded in Piacenza, for which scored 23 goals in 21 games in Serie C 1955-56, he began the next season in Serie A, October 14, 1956, in Padova-Milan 2-0. At the end of the season the Rossoneri won the championship thanks to his decisive contribution (17 goals). Became one of the national team squad during the flop in the 1958 Swedish World Cup qualifiers. He began in Lisbon, during the match lost 3-0 against Portugal and took part in the stormy game in Belfast on December 4, 1957, for admission to the World Cup playoff downgraded to friendly to the absence of the referee. By Carlo Galli alternated in the role of striker, the two share out the cumbersome legacy of Gunnar Nordahl, moved to Rome. Won a new title, as reserve of Altafini in 1958-59. Passes in 1960 to Genoa in Serie B, to pair with Firmani, the two contributed to a historic promotion of rossoblù in A (64 goals and eleven points ahead of second Napoli). On 2 April 1961, the match away against Novara, Bean scored four goals. Contributed to the achievement of his goals in Cup Alpine 1964 and 1963 the Friendship Cup. He played the last few seasons in rossoblù from left wing, then was transferred to Naples, in B, which won a new promotion in the top flight. Dressed again in Serie A, the mesh of the SPAL, in 1967, when Paul Mazza attempted, with its inclusion, to give more punch to the attack biancoazzurro. He stayed in Ferrara in Serie B the following year and then go to close his career in 1969 in Bellaria, as player-coach. Thus began a career as a trainer, who played predominantly in Serie C until the late eighties. Retired living in Bellaria-Igea Marina.
