Stefan Bozhkov was the first Bulgarian world class player. Bozhkov started as a left winger, later played in almost all positions on the pitch but starred as the gifted playmaker operating in midfield. He had excellent technique and playmaking skills, he was brain of his teams, had great sense of positioning and tactical awareness, always in a search for open space and knew very well where the ball will be and when it will come, very endurable player, always in movement, had good shot, dribbling and was good performer of set pieces. He began his football career in 1938 in Sports (Sofia), then from early 1947 until the summer of 1948 played in the Czechoslovak SK Kladno, and from 1948 to 1960 is a footballer and captain of CSKA (202 matches and 49 goals) . Plays as midfielder and a striker. Ten times he was champion of Bulgaria with the team of CSKA (1948, 1951, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960) and three times winner of the Cup of Bulgaria (1951, 1954 and 1955 .). For the national team has 53 games and 4 goals in 41 matches was his captain. Debuted on November 8, 1946 against Romania (2:2). Last meeting of December 21, 1958 against West Germany (0:3). Bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia in 1956 in the tournament for the European Cup has 8 games and 1 goal for CSKA. Player with good technical and organizational qualities and selfless play. From 1961 to 1963 was assistant coach at CSKA. From 1966 to 1970 was head coach of the national football team of Bulgaria in 1968 which ranks second in the Olympic tournament in Mexico and it ranked World Cup finals in Mexico in 1970 Spearhead A national team in general 34 games, 2 games in the youth and Olympic - 1960 In 1974 was incorporated by the sports journalists in the top team of 30 airports (1944 to 1974 on). Former coach of CSKA (1971-1974, 1982) and chairman of the team. Has a long coaching practice in Russia, Hungary, Italy and Germany. He was also vice president of BFU (1975). There are degrees Honoured Master of Sports (1953), Honored coach (1969) and Distinguished figure of physical education (1976), winner of the Order of September 9, 1944 " - I degree with Swords (1983). There are 2 university degrees - in medical Medical University - Sofia and sports in VIF - Major Football. Loyal citizen of Sofia and Kyustendil. He is currently Chairman of the coaching committee in BFU. Stefan Bozhkov died in 2014.
