Dino da Costa was attacking allrounder, in the beginning mainly as centre forward but most part of career spent on inside forward position and later taking playmaking duties. Strong and fast player but didn't show always that speed, technically gifted with good working habits and who always played for his team. But he was most known and feared for his rocket shot. Son of a trolley bus driver with seven children, fourteen walked in the Botafogo youth and, at the age of seventeen, was admitted into the first team. He began playing the official June 14, 1951, under the name "Dino" - as is customary in Brazil - and signing a one-two; established for four years, with Garrincha and the young superstar Luis Vinicius, a formidable trio for the team attack carioca. With Botafogo Da Costa realized a total of 144 goals in 167 games, including 36 goals in 51 Championship matches. His best season was 1954, when, with 24 goals in 26 games won the top scorer of the Carioca Championship. Today it is still located at 10 th place in the top scorer of all time in the history of Botafogo. He arrived in Rome in 1955, after a tour in Italy of Botafogo, was noted by observers Giallorossi. Was rationed as a native, thanks to his Italian roots, and was later naturalized. He began in the Italian league, with red and yellow shirt September 18, 1955, in Rome-Lanerossi Vicenza (4-1).
