INFO:A strong and very combative defender of the 1950s and 1960s, Raymond Kaelbel, a pure Alsatian, was recognized in his time as one of the best defenders on the planet. Known as "the rock" for his strong tackling. Kaelbel was complete defender, two-footed, with spectacular tackles, long throws and excellent heading abilities. Besides he had solid speed and used to join the attack when his teams were in difficulty. He was good marker and very determinate fighter. At 18, he signed with professionals and RC Strasbourg. After several seasons racing, he decided to join in 1956, AS Monaco. During the 1959-1960, Monaco as a captain with Kaelbel Raymond won the first trophy in its history the Coupe de France, won after a final against AS Saint Etienne, at Colombes Stadium, the score 4-2. The following year, the Club Monaco makes the double by winning the Championship of France and the Coupe Drago against RC Strasbourg 2-1. Raymond Kaelbel won in August 1961 the Champions Trophy against Sedan, is his last trophy with the club before leaving for Monaco Le Havre. It bounces by signing at the Stade de Reims and Champagne finishes with the club Vice-Champion of France. He also discovers the European Cup of Champion Clubs' where the club bends in the quarter-final against Feyenoord Rotterdam. The following year, he knows his third relegation of his career, Raymond Kaelbel left the club and joined the club from its beginnings RC Strasbourg. The following year the club won the Cup Alsatian of France in the final by defeating FC Nantes 1-0, Kaelbel is a major player in the final, he delivers a duel very engaged with the striker Philip Gondet, top scorer Championship. The following year, he is no longer an undisputed holder and plays until the end of his career in 1969 replacing a role in defense. He knows his international debut June 16, 1954 against Yugoslavia. From 1956 to 1959 he was selected 26 times in a row for France. He scored his only goal in the France team on a free kick during the match against Chile (6-0). Raymond Kaelbel also remains close to RC Strasbourg as administrator of the club until his death in 2007.
