INFO:One of the best German defenders. Erhardt played as side back, centre half and wing half and in his club he played as centre forward as well, mostly known for his strength and hard tackling. Had good technique, tremendous duel and header strength, secure positional play, unshakable fighting spirit. He did not rely solely on his athletic figure and great talent, but also completed a lot of special training: additional forest runs alone and countless extra hours on the pendulum. Not fast, knew to command well the back line. On 20 June 1948, Herbert Erhardt made his debut in the 3-0 home win. Behind Richard Gottinger, brought it to 347 league operations, Erhardt occupied with 335 games in the Oberliga Süd in second place in the Fürth players list. Overall, he is in the Südliga with 363 interventions in the sixth. On 19 August 1962 denied the 32-year-old ex-Fürth, the first league game for Bayern Munich. Erhardt 1963/64 in the Regional graduated 35 of 38 league games with four goals and drew as a runner-up with Bayern in the promotion round. After two seasons with FC Bayern Munich Erhardt ended 1964 with 34 years of his 17-year-old league career and went back to his hometown back to Fürth. National coach Sepp Herberger sighted the Fürther defensive all-rounder on 4 June 1953 in Augsburg at the game of a DFB-selection against southern Germany, changed at the beginning of the round in 1962/63, Erhardt was the age of 32 to Bayern Munich, he left with his 50th International match on 30 September 1962 in Zagreb against Yugoslavia after the 3-2 win from the national soccer team. Herbert Erhardt died on 3 July 2010, the same day as the national team at the World Cup in South Africa defeated Argentina, 4-0, after a long illness in his home town of Fürth, just before his 80th Birthday.
