INFOErnst or Ernest Pohl is the all time leading scorer in polish league. Pohl played as centre forward and inside forward, first remembered as the great scorer but he was also decent conductor who could make solid pass. His trademark was rocket shot but he could place the ball very well not only blast it hardest he can. Ernst was complete forward with good dribbling and technique, intelligent positioning and great finishing ability. He was a trained technician for mining, as well as a football trainer. The first performances of football club Slavia scored Ruda Silesia. Years 1952-1953, drafted into the army, spent the Eagle boat (at that time under the name Garrison Military Sports Club). Since 1953 he performed in Warsaw Legion, over three seasons by including two doublets - Polish Champion and Polish Cup in 1955 and 1956. The Legion was the first player the league's leading scorer in 1954. In 1956 he moved to Gornik Zabrze, where over the next eleven seasons, won a further eight league titles (1957, 1959, 1961, 1963-1967) and one Cup (1965). In 1959 and 1961 was again top scorer of the league. Number of goals scored by Pohl - 186 in the league - is still a record in Polish football. He had an extensive survey. In the period 1955-1964 occurred in 46 official meetings team, scoring 39 goals, played at the Olympic Games in Rome (1960), where a win over Tunisia scored five goals (Poland won 6-1), but his performances of shooting did not prevent falls off representation in the phase of elimination after defeats to Denmark and the amateur team of Argentina. Winner of the Golden Shoe in a poll of Sport (1963/64). Experts cycle Football Encyclopedia FUJI Pohl recognized as the best Polish player in 1959, 1961 and 1964. After ending his career remained in Górnik as a coach, an assistant to several trainers. In 1990 he moved permanently to Germany (where he previously went to his two daughters and wife), where he died. Since 2004, the Stadium of Gornik Zabrze bears the name of Ernest Pohl.
