INFOGerard Kerkum was a real Feyenoord. One of the greatest personalities in Feyenoord history, first as a player and captain, than later club chairman. Kerkum played as right back, he was mainly known for his strong will and leadership, very tough and unyielding player sometimes even violent. Rock hard, athletic, strong, very tenacious with good defensive work. He played between 1951 and 1965 more than 400 official matches for Feyenoord. Later he became president of the players union VVCS. Between 1982 and 1989 Kerkum chairman of Feyenoord. Between 1955 and 1960, the tough Feyenoorder Gerard Kerkum ten times reserve for the Dutch national team. His PSV competitor Roel Wiersma had always preferred. When he was only seven months away from his thirtieth birthday, Kerkum could still make its debut in Orange.
