INFOThe all time leading scorer of Feyenoord. Cor vas centre forward and very efficient one, player with excellent positioning in the box and fantastic heading abilities, always ready on right place at the right time to put in the net great crosses from Moulijn. He was great opportunist with decent physical power and goood understanding with the teammates. Van der Gijp played along with his brothers Wim, Freek and Janus van der Gijp some time for the Dordrecht football Emma before in the early years of the Dutch professional football for about 18,000, - guilders Feijenoord sold. Cor van der Gijp played his first official match for Rotterdam on 8 January 1956. His last game was on Dec. 15, 1963. During the 233 league games he played in this period, he scored 161 goals and is, during the period of paid football top scorer of Feyenoord. After Feyenoord played the leading scorer from Dordrecht three seasons with Blue-White in Amsterdam. Van der Gijp played in thirteen games for the Dutch national team in which he made six goals for Orange. After his football career he became coach, referee and a short time later he started his own sports shop. Cor van der Gijp is also the uncle of the well known ex-professional footballer René van der Gijp.
