INFOIvan Kolev was a spearhead inside-forwad displaced on the left wing against his will. By the way, he moves often to the centre where he takes advantage of the dragging occasions. Kolev was very fast player, he run 100 meters in 10.6 seconds. Player with great team spirit, sense of goal, high linear speed, passing, sharp demarcation and famous dribble. Very explosive, cunning, agile, with a bomb shot and perfect crosses. Ivan Kolev's specialty is his goals from a small angle. In the Austrian football encyclopedia against his name it is said clearly and simply - "the first Bulgarian football player of world class". Partizan defender Yusufi becomes so funny that he throws his shoes on the track and leaves the field when playing against him. Kolev played for Sportist Sofia from 1945 to 1948, VVS Sofia form 1949 to 1950, CSKA from 1950 to 1967 (304 matches, 90 goals in A PFG) and Sliven in 1967/68 season. He is first Bulgarian nominated to Golden Ball. In total he played 325 games and scored 95 goals in Bulgarian first division, and won league title 11 times as well as Bulgarian Cup on 4 occassions. Kolev was named as Bulgarian Footballer of the Year in 1962. He represented Bulgaria at the FIFA World Cups in 1962 and 1966, and won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He made his debut for NT on 18/05/1952 against poland (1-0) and his last match was on 20/07/1966 against Hungary (1-3) on World Cup. After his retirement from active playing Kolev worked also as a coach and remained active in social life till his last days. Ivan kolev died on 01/07/2005 at the age of 75.
