INFO

Franjo Lovrić was one of the most underrated players in former Yugoslavia. He was mainly inside left but could be used at any attacking position. Excellent dribbler who was famous for his solo runs often dribbling 4-5 opponents before scoring, but also was known for his fantastic passes, great vision to make last pass but also to send good long ball, great technician and decent scorer but more than all the leader and playmaker. Franjo was born on 1 Lovric April 1923 in Sarajevo, and a rich football career began in SAŠK in 1938. year, for whom he played until the beginning of the war. After the war ended, the popular Franco has decided to continue his football career, and together with his younger brother joined the newly formed team Sloboda. A year ago, he was the best player of Sloboda, which was successfully performed until October 1946th year, when fused with the Udarnik in Torpedo, which later changed its name to Sarajevo. Confusion about the merger of two clubs, the best advantage Željezničar Lovric who appropriates to its ranks. However, Lovric has not kept there for long. In May 1947 after Zeljeznicar remained only theoretical chances to stay in the first division, Federation decides that Franjo and Milan Rajlić heighten Torpedo, who was at that time struggling through additional qualifications for entry into the First Division. That the decision was justified, it was shown in the very first appearances in the uniform of their torpedoes, since it is mostly due to their goals, Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the next season had its representative in the First League of Yugoslavia. Franco then became standard at Sarajevo, the violin player and the club, without which we could not imagine starting line up. In the first season, Sarajevo fails to maintain the status of Premiership. In that season, Lovric was given yet another award, captain's band, which he proudly wore for the next 10 years, that is until he took leave of jersey Sarajevo. His great party in the first half of the fifties still were not enough to play in the "A" team of the Yugoslav national team. Several times and got the call, and several times he was on a broader list, but it was never found in the field. Instead, for years has been a permanent member of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and pursued his one appearance for the "B" team of the Yugoslav national team in April 1956th, against Hungary at Kosevo (3:0 for Yugoslavia). From football farewell to the 1958th year, having previously achieved with Sarajevo placement in the First Division, and the last of his official meeting took place on 16 November 1958th year, against Hajduk Split. In total, in the uniform of Sarajevo, including an unofficial match, played 429 times, and has scored 169 goals. After finishing playing career, he devoted himself to coaching call, has long been a coach in the youth facility, and the first champion season 1966/67 he was assistant to Miroslav Brozović in the coaching. After the Brozovic in the summer 1967th, after winning a title, resigned because of conflicts with people from the club management, the confidence to lead a team pointed Lovric. Franco's maroon team led only half-season in the autumn, after which he was succeeded by Munib Saracevic, and will be remembered that he led the team in the Champions Cup matches, including the famous meetings with Manchester United. Franjo died on February 5, 1982 in Sarajevo.

"Franco je bio fudbalski bog. Kao da je imao stotinu očiju. Nenadmašan pregled igre, sjajna tehnika, idealna progiravanja, more genijalnih ideja. Kakav Bobek, kakav Di Stefano, Franco je bio pojam, mogao je sve u fudbalu." - Miroslav Ćiro Blažević
