Manente is a former left-back, capable of playing as half-back. He spent the majority of his career at Juventus, making 231 appearances from 1948 to 1955, scoring 15 goals. He played also for Udinese, Atalanta and Lanerossi Vicenza, retiring in 1960. He capped for Italy once in 1952.
Initially the typical full-back of the "system" tactics, Manente became one of the first modern full-backs as he not only marked fast wingers with efficiency but he also distributed the ball to build the offense up, pushed forward frequently with great dynamism, although he wasn't as quick as his teammate Alberto Bertuccelli. When he supported the attack, he acted as an additional inside capable of scoring or operate as a playmaker. He was gifted with an accurate and powerful shot from outside the box. He proved to be a fine set piece taker as he scored once from free kick and once from penalty.
