Cervellati was a right winger, occasionally used on the left side. He spent his entire career at Bologna from 1948 to 1962, making 320 appearances and scoring 88 goals. He capped 6 times for Italy. Talented and tireless, Cervellati was a short player, gifted with outstanding sprint and dribbling ability that drove the defenders mad. Showing his sharpness since he was young, he kept improving technically year by year. Despite lacking of height and strength, he could overcome the defenders thanks to his qualities and great agility. He acted well either on the side or the center, making continuous threatening surges to the box at high speed or going wide to deliver an accurate cross. This way, he could be a very good scorer especially with remarkable goals.
