Attack MindedINFO:Vonlanthen was an inside-forward. His performances were noticed at the 1954 World Cup: great passer, good dribbling, gifted with speed which was helpful when counterattacking and probably when defending as well. At that time he was playing for Grasshopper, team he stayed in from 1950 to 1955, scoring for them 73 goals in around 100 games. He transferred to Italy in 1955, signing for Inter. Fans expected him to be a goal scorer due to the huge amount of goals he scored in Switzerland. However he was a technically gifted, fast player who preferred the offensive game but was mainly an excellent passer. In fact scored only 12 goals in 42 matches for Inter and left in 1957 for Alessandria. With the
Grigi, in a smaller club, he could express himself better. However he was often out of condition and the scoring rate wasn't much different from the two previous years: 10 goals in 45 matches in two seasons. He then came back to Switzerland, playing for Grasshopper, Lausanne and Servette, before retiring in 1966. He capped 27 times for his national team, scoring 8 goals.
