Robert Ballaman was three-time Swiss champion, two times Swiss champions, scoring 271 goals, 194 of them in the championship games of the National League. Spearhead forward attracted by the goals, redoubtable on set-pieces. Ballaman distinguished himself by his acceleration, the speed, running and his enormous, both feet shot power. He was in his actions spontaneous and unpredictable, his opponents hardly marked him. Overall, he was three-time Swiss champion. Ballaman played 1948-1961 in 50 appearances for the Swiss national team, scoring 18 goals. At the 1954 World Cup on home soil he scored four goals in four games. Together with Roger Vonlanthen, Ballaman developed in the national team a new, long-range attack style. The attack in some of their time to the rhythm of the game. With two, three simple, in the depth scale trains, they played an effective counter-style, and became a symbol for the movement of football.
