Lucentini was a winger who played for Sampdoria, Fiorentina, Triestina and Lazio among other minor teams. His period probably came in his early career, when he played 110 matches and scored 18 goals for the Blucerchiati from 1948 to 1952, gaining one cap for Italy in the process. After the 1952-53 season in Fiorentina, where he played 23 games, he joined Triestina. He played 89 matches and scored 14 times for the Alabardati in three seasons. He retired in 1965.
Lucentini played mostly on the right side but he could play on the left as well and he was a very constant player, gifted with great tactical intelligence. He was extremely fast and his hardworking style made him able to constantly change position during the match thanks to his perpetuous and essential movement. He scored a good amount of goals but he was unselfish. In fact he used to run straight down the right flank to look for one of his very accurate crosses − he took also corners and free kick, which he could deliver long balls from. When he wanted to shoot, he cut diagonally inside the penalty area to look for a goal opportunity.
