Antonini was an inside forward or half-back. He spent the majority of his career at Milan, making 288 appearances from 1937 to 1949, scoring 24 goals. He was team captain from 1942 to 1944. He played also for Hellas Verona and Reggiana, where he retired in 1951. Antonini was midfielder with a short but solid physique. He was known for his
covering ability and spirit of sacrifice. His trademarks were determination and running but he possessed also fine technique. A team player, he was always willing to support a teammate who needed help. He was the engine of Milan's midfield, providing his team with great dynamism and energy either as half back or inside forward. He didn't score much and had his most prolific period in his last years with the Rossoneri.
