The best ever player to wear Atletico Madrid shirt. Silva played first as centre forward but than moved back to inside right and right wing half position. One of the technically most gifted Spanish players ever, phenomenal passer, especially remarkable long balls over 50 meters which were milimetric precise although he preffered short passes. Silva dazzled with his individual technique: he could send the ball from the penalty spot of his area to the end of the opposite area without it rising a second from the grass. Excellent dribbling skills over the short distance, incredible vision, ball control and agility. But he was difficult character, he didn't like to help in defence and he had a lot of disciplinary problems which caused his departure from Atletico. In March 1947, Alfonso Silva At.Madrid Pleasures hired from Real Club Victoria de Las Palmas. Silva was born on March 19, 1926 in Las Palmas. The April 20, 1947, in the first leg of the first round of the Copa del Generalissimo, the At.Madrid exceeded Hercules 3-0 at Metropolitan Stadium, Silva was released midline forming Mencia and German. At the beginning of the season 1947/1948, Silva was elevated in the brain of the sensational "Silk Front" formed by Juncosa, Vidal Silva, Campos and Escudero. The sportswriter critical "Pueblo", Jose Maria Ubeda, nicknamed the quintet Atletico Madrid striker by the name of "silk front." Ubeda Atleti ahead stressed that linking the plays with soft touches, without violence, with intelligence and good taste not without effectiveness. During that campaign, the Madrid front added 73 goals in 26 league games with an average of 2.8 goals per game. In subsequent years, Silva left the center forward position to act on the midline (big pairs formed by Hernandez and Mujica). Silva was part of the great Helenio Herrera Atletico won two league titles (1949/1950 and 1950/1951) and one Copa Eva Duarte de Perón (1951). The Metropolitan hobby enjoyed winning a set scoring goals and giving show. Silva marveled at his technique on a computer that also highlighted the Ben Barek, Juncosa, Marcel Domingo, Aparicio, Carlsson, Escudero, ... All coaches had the canary until Jacinto Quincoces him from the team with Coke and Ecuador Mujica in the campaign 1954/1955 for disciplinary reasons. In season 1955/1956, with the arrival of Antonio Barrios at Atletico bench, Silva returned to training with the team, but an unfortunate injury kept him from playing the first league games. Silva debuted on the 8th day and played well in the 10th, 11th and 12th date. Then, Barrios said the team did not have alternate category. Silva considered these words offensive to him and his companions, and refused to play under Barrios. The club reported the case to Castellana Football Federation asking a penalty for player. While studying the case regional Federation, Silva could not train with the rest of his teammates. On February 2, 1956, the Football Federation fined Castellana Silva with three years' disqualification. Days later, the Royal Spanish Football Federation upheld the ruling. Then, Atletico wanted him to lower the suspension. In February 1957 he completed his first year of punishment and forgiveness thanks to Atletico requested by the Federation, Silva was able to return to play. The club passed for 300,000 pesetas to Las Palmas where he remained until the season 1958/1959. At 33 he retired from playing one of the greatest players of Spain class and technique of all time. Silva dazzled by his ball, his intelligence, his finesse, elegance and vision. Fans enjoyed a balloon artist, a genius, a football savant. In the At.Madrid, the canary played 154 league games (38 goals) and 23 Cup matches (five goals). In addition, international five-time (1 goal) with Spain with which he participated in World Brasil'50. Once retired, married to a German and tried his hand as a coach with the Konstanz (FRG) and the Kreuzlinger (Switzerland). A hip injury kept him from further linked to football and went to work in the textile factory Konstanz. The February 16, 2007, Silva died at the age of 80.
