INFO:

Paco Campos was one of the greatest Atletico legends. He played as inside left, more a scorer than playmaker, excellent technician, capable of dribbling couple of players in a row. Great scorer with outstanding heading skills and positioning in the box although he wasn't too fast player. Paco had very powerful and precise shot and could make a good pass to his teammates. Francisco Campos Salamanca, was born in Las Palmas on March 8, 1916. Star began playing in the neighborhood of San Jose, as youth team. From there I went to the East, where he played with his brothers John and Carmel (canary football another institution to which devote their deserved space on this blog). Fields left inside acted as his good performances with 16 years led him to sign his first record with Sporting San Jose, who was active in Second Team Regional. Another canary football history. Two years later his name was known by the fans and progression led him to sign for one of the best teams canaries as was the Marino Las Palmas. The first season proved formidable Paco Campos was champion team in Las Palmas, marking beautiful and substantial goals. Fields belonged to Marino until 1936, the year the Civil War broke out. He was called up and had to take a trip to the Peninsula forced. During the war with the team participated in the Aviation weapon in Salamanca, germ from which after the war would be the Atlético Aviación to 1946. Here he met other players canaries as Arencibia, Table, World, etc. .. Airmen also during the war. After the battle fields, in large part due to its origin as a military air, he joined Atletico Aviation coached by Ricardo Zamora, who was looking for an inside left. The physical endurance and continuous search of the goal that brought Campos, soon led him to the undisputed title. The sporting success came quickly that season, Atletico won the first football league after the hiatus imposed by the race war. Fields formed in attack alongside Elícegui, Gabilondo, Enrique and Vasquez. The canary scored 8 goals in 17 games for the achievement of the first League Championship club mattress. And not the last player as next season Atletico won another title. This time shared Manín attack, Arencibia, Pruden and Vazquez. Campos was already a major player in the red and white set, but its final consecration among the great Spanish football came in his second season in the first division. Paco remained for 7 campaigns in the discipline pullover. At the collective level again failed to score a success, even though it was very close several times, a league runner-up (43/44), and four third places (41/42, 44/45, 46/47 and 47 / 48). However, at the individual level their numbers were always bright, closing his career as Atletico played 193 league games, and no less than 125 goals, reaching even to this day, as the third highest scorer of all time athlete, only Escudero behind and Luis Aragones and maximum canary First Division football. (207 games and 132 goals). In the summer of 1948, Campos left Atletico Madrid going to join the ranks of other team Atletico, but in this case Asturian Sporting Gijon. That first season with Sporting in Second, Campos player shared the work of the coach, and was about to get promotion. But it would be in his third season with Sporting, with Amadeo Sanchez coach when got the coveted promotion. The following season, with thirty-six, decided to end his playing career. That season, 1951-52, he played in the Estadio Insular at the Sports Union in League play. As a Spanish national team player, Fields had six appearances scoring five goals. In addition to Portugal, he played against France, Switzerland, Germany in Berlin and Italy in Milan during the war mundial.También canary is the top scorer in the senior team. Once abandoned as playing football player, was devoted to coaching duties, had already shared in the era of Sporting as a player. Campos went to Badajoz, where he recommended to his former club, Atletico Madrid, the signing of Adelard. He later coached the UD Salamanca, where he stayed for two seasons. Later, he returned to his homeland to take charge of the UD Las Palmas. It was in January 1962 and ü.d. was about the decline and Casimiro Campos Benavente relieved finally left the yellow in fourth place in Division 2. Finally, went to C.D.Tenerife. Paco died in 1995.
