The scoring machine, in 229 league games for Vienna he scored 255 goals. He played as inside right, combining playmaking duties with fantastic scoring abilities. He was precise and lucid, excellent and strong shooter, especially from volleys, good fighter, very fast player, good dribbler, scored from headers. He came to Vienna in the autumn of 1937, for which he debuted at age 16. He celebrated with the Vienna 1938-1952 also his greatest successes as a player scoring 605 goals in 609 games. He was the champion three times in 1944 and 1950 Austrian top scorer. After his time in Vienna he played one season at SK Sturm Graz before he became a legionnaire in France for Sochaux and in Switzerland Grenchen. For Germany's national team eight times in 1942, he was on the field and scored seven or eight goals. Between 1945 and 1952 he made 25 appearances for the Austrian national team, scoring 19 goals. In the years 1958 to 1964, Karl Decker was a team coach, one of the most successful in the history of Austrian football. His team in 1960/61 had success with their series (wins against Scotland (4-1), the USSR (3:1 and 1:0), Spain ( 3-0 in front of the still valid record crowd of 90 726 spectators at the Prater Stadium), Italy (2-1), England (3-1), Hungary (2:1 and 2:1) memories of the miracle team will be.
