INFO:

The ultimate dwarf in football, Puccinelli was pacey winger with good dribbling. He played at the beginning mainly on the left wing, but later operated more on right side. Very stylish and elegant, with good technique and tactical awareness, showed good understanding with bomber Silvio Piola. Aldo had strong and precise shot and had solid strength despite his deminutive size. He began playing with Pontedera in 1940 and was bought from Lazio, a club with which he remained until the summer of 1955 when, at 35, virtually gave farewell to his playing career. To talk about Aldo Puccinelli is first necessary to give space to the figures: 342 appearances (including 339 in League Cup in Italy and 3) with the shirt of Lazi, 78 goals (77 in the league and a Cup). He was a symbol of Lazio of those years, tens of times of which he was captain. He arrived in Rome early twenties, for the first time putting a foot in the big city. Small of stature, quite compact, quiet by nature, always polite and poised, not stirred a great impression at first sight. After a year of apprenticeship, with only two first team appearances, immediately liked the coach the following season (1941-42), the Austrian Popovich, who gave him the shirt holder. On 24 May 1942 entered permanently in the heart of Lazio fans, scoring the equalizer in 1 to 1 of the Rome derby that would win the Scudetto. His career was also influenced by the war, which broke one of the highlights of his career because he was forced to leave Rome and return to Tuscany, to be near his family in the darkest moments of the conflict. After the war, however, made his return to the capital to take its place among the ranks of Lazio. He became captain and was a cornerstone of training that included, among others, the brothers Sentimenti, Leandro Remondini, Francesco Antonazzi, Romolo Alzani etc. With that team Lazio reached in those years for three times the fourth place. He died in 1994 at the age of 73 years.
