INFO:Ernest Vaast was a French international footballer. One of the best French players of his generation. He has never been a real winger. At Racing, he has almost always occupied the inside-left role. But it is, paradoxical thing, at the left wing that he mostly expressed himself in the French national team. Vaast behaved at this position like a player assured of his technique, counting more on his clear-sightedness and his start-ups than on his running speed, like a player who constantly shows up to facilitate the work of a partner or of some partners and not to depend soleley on them. Player with exceptional technique but also attacking intelligence. He scored a lot from tight angles and whilst at full speed, had strong and precise shot, good dribbling but he didn't show always his full potential. His touch of the ball, his impeccable technique, the power and precision of his shots, his intelligence of play and his spontaneity of action went most naturally in the world, allowing him to reach the elite. From the summer of 1944 he played for Racing Club de Paris. Vaast was placed twice in the top league scorers: 1946/47 with 18 goals to rank 13th and 1947/48 with 16 goals for the 10th. From 1951 to 1953 he played for Stade Rennais, and 1953/54 still one year in Red Star. Often plagued by muscle injuries, he ended with 31 years of his professional career. Between April 1945 and June 1949 Ernest Vaast played 15 A-internationals with the Equipe Tricolore, where he scored 11 goals. With 0.73 goals per game states he is to this day one of the most efficient scorer who ever wore the jersey of the Bleus. Ernest died in 2011.
