Arie de Vroet is former Dutch player and captain of the national team. He started to play as inside left but was moved soon to left wing half position since he could offer more on that position considering his lack of pace and small stature which made him vulnerable in clashes with tough centre backs. Arie was excellent technician, hard worker with good passing range and strong left foot. Lacked the pace but was very intelligent with dangerous runs in the box, good vision and positioning on the pitch. He was on his 14th member of Feijenoord, shortly after he and his parents Mijnsheerenland had moved to Rotterdam, and in 1937 made ​​his debut in the first. On 23 July 1937 he was on the ground in the first match at Stadion Feyenoord: Feyenoord - Beerschot. In October 1938 his first international match for the Dutch national football team in an away match against Denmark. With the World Cup 1978 he was assistant to Ernst Happel and Jan Black Cross at the Dutch national team. Until his retirement in 1983 he remained in the service of the KNVB, the last few years as a general consultant for technical matters. De Vroet died in 1999 at age 80 of a heart attack.
