The original striker, who has matured into a center half over the years due to his enormous amount of running, the Swiss champion four times and winner of the cup five times. He was known as "marathon footballer" due to his enormous capacity of running, out of common. Very strong built, technically gifted with good passing and speed. He played for Young Boys (1940-41), Lausanne Sports (1941-48), Servette (1948-52), Maley (1952-53) and La Chaux de Fonds (1953-56). For the Swiss national football team (1941-55) played 44 matches. He participated in two World Cups (1950, 1954). He was the eldest player with 35 years at the World Cup in 1954.
